Referral Coordinator
About the role
The Referral Coordinator will process all routine and urgent referrals to providers for the purpose of obtaining specialist care by our internal and external specialty providers. This role functions as the liaison between P3 Medical Group and all network specialty providers, involving significant interaction with clinic staff, paperwork handling, faxing, scanning, and telephone communication with patients and specialty providers.
Responsibilities
- Initiate referrals within timetable guidelines
- Build and manage routine and urgent referrals to specialty network providers, following all specific guidelines required by these providers
- Prepare and process all necessary chart documents and information to the referral source
- Communicate with the specialty network providers
- Schedule appointments with specialty network providers, when applicable
- Communicate with the patients
- Verify patient insurance eligibility
- Obtain prior authorizations
- Complete Electronic Medical Record (EMR) tasks
- Process an average of 35 referrals per day
- Document all referrals-related interactions
- Communicate with providers and staff promptly
- Serve as backup to the main patient support center team

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Referral Coordinator
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a healthcare or clinical setting
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
Skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is desirable
- High standard of professionalism

- Work independently as well as in a group setting
- Ability to multi-task, work with interruptions, and meet deadlines
Pay
$20–24 per hour
