About the role
Facilitates referrals by processing internal, outgoing, and incoming referral entries. The Referral Coordinator will work assigned incoming and outgoing referral work queues, schedule patients, attach referrals to patient appointments, obtain authorizations, and proactively verify all authorizations for the assigned department schedule. Maintains communication and relationships with the assigned practice. Processes more than 50 referrals per day for completeness and disseminates them to the correct work queues to initiate the scheduling process.
Responsibilities

- Schedule patients and attach referrals to patient appointments
- Obtain authorizations and proactively verify authorizations for the assigned department schedule
- Maintain communication and relationships with the assigned practice
- Process more than 50 referrals per day for completeness
- Disseminate referrals to the correct work queues to start the scheduling process
- Train all levels of referral coordinators for assigned specialties
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required; post high school training or college preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service and scheduling
- 6 months of Epic experience preferred
- Working knowledge of referrals and InBasket to communicate with offices and physicians
- Extensive knowledge of Epic scheduling to attach referrals to appointments efficiently
- Ability to multitask and adapt to quickly changing job duties
- Strong communication skills and ability to foster a team environment
- Comfortable working in a cubicle environment
- Cross-trained in all service lines of the department
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong telephone etiquette and listening skills
- Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and precisely with other departments, physician practices, staff, and providers
- Proficient data entry and computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Expert understanding of insurance and authorization processes
- Bilingual skills are helpful
Pay
$20.50 - $24.09 per hour
Schedule
Full-time, Shift 1: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
