Recreation Leader - Part-Time/Seasonal

About the role

We are now hiring for Summer 2026. Summertime opportunities include Seaside Lagoon staff, including cashiers and maintenance, Camp Counselors, and more!

Responsibilities

• Participating in staff trainings and meetings
• Promoting the program
• Recruiting participants
• Keeping accurate records
• Ensuring participant safety
• Planning, organizing, leading, and supervising daily activities
• Leading group games, sports, arts and crafts, special events, and contests

• At least 16 years old to apply

Qualifications

• Preferably some college credit in related field of study
• Experience working with children and/or seniors
• Experience leading recreation programs

Pay

Hourly salary will be offered depending on qualifications.

Schedule

• Afterschool Program: 2:30pm-6:00pm, Monday-Friday
• Alta Vista Facility: 7:30am-9:00pm, 4 to 6 hour shift per day
• Senior Centers: 9:00am-6:00pm, Monday-Friday, 4 to 6 hour shift per day
• Summer Camp Counselor: Full day June-August
• Seaside Lagoon Cashier and Maintenance: Seasonally, from May - September of each year

Note

All part-time and seasonal employees pay into Social Security and Medicare (7.65%). City employees do not pay into California State Disability (SDI).
