Part-Time Recreation Leader/Specialist

About the role

This position is part-time and located in the Cobb County PARKS Department. It can be filled as either a Recreation Leader or a Recreation Specialist, depending on qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Teach instructional gymnastics classes on an age-appropriate level and through skill progressions.
• Take class attendance, prepare class lesson plans, evaluate and recommend students to progress to higher levels.
• Perform customer service functions: provide information or assistance regarding services, activities, forms, procedures, fees, or other issues; respond to routine questions and complaints; research problems and initiate problem resolution; and refer complaints/problems to appropriate personnel.
• Process participant registrations, court reservations, tournament registrations, and other scheduled services and events: receive requests for classes, court times, or other scheduled services; review registration forms for accuracy and completeness; enter information into online databases and calendars; collect and record fees; and maintain related documentation.
• Prepare facilities according to daily schedule: open and close facility; unlock and lock doors; turn lights on or off; disarm and set alarm; move, set up, and tear down tables, chairs, etc.; and perform routine cleaning duties such as emptying trash, sweeping floors, etc.
• Maintain attendance and punctuality within customary tolerances for this position.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred for Recreation Leader; supplemented by experience in any field working with children or as an instructor/coach or athlete.
• High School Diploma or GED required for Recreation Specialist; supplemented by vocational or technical training in customer service or related field; supplemented by two years of experience in customer service.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
• Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).
• Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
• Sensory requirements: some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
• Environmental factors: essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
