About the role
This position is part-time and located in the Cobb County PARKS Department. It can be filled as either a Recreation Leader or a Recreation Specialist, depending on qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Teach instructional gymnastics classes on an age-appropriate level and through skill progressions.
- Take class attendance, prepare class lesson plans, evaluate and recommend students to progress to higher levels.
- Perform customer service functions: provide information or assistance regarding services, activities, forms, procedures, fees, or other issues; respond to routine questions and complaints; research problems and initiate problem resolution; and refer complaints/problems to appropriate personnel.
- Process participant registrations, court reservations, tournament registrations, and other scheduled services and events: receive requests for classes, court times, or other scheduled services; review registration forms for accuracy and completeness; enter information into online databases and calendars; collect and record fees; and maintain related documentation.
- Prepare facilities according to daily schedule: open and close facility; unlock and lock doors; turn lights on or off; disarm and set alarm; move, set up, and tear down tables, chairs, etc.; and perform routine cleaning duties such as emptying trash, sweeping floors, etc.
- Maintain attendance and punctuality within customary tolerances for this position.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred; supplemented by experience in any field working with children or as an instructor/coach or athlete for a Recreation Leader.
- A High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by vocational or technical training in customer service or related field; supplemented by two years of experience in customer service; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job for a Recreation Specialist.
Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License for a Recreation Specialist.
Skills
- Ability to communicate orally.
- Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).

- Recreation Leader: $17.34/hr. (Grade: 100P)
- Recreation Specialist: $17.86/hr. (Grade 101P)
Schedule
- Varying hours Monday through Saturday, including nights and weekends.
