Duties
Serves as lifeguard for a waterfront property and works under the direction of the Installation Program Manager and head lifeguard.
- Rescues swimmers and administers first aid as trained, and responds to medical emergencies throughout the property.
- Employs safety rules and rescue techniques for the protection of the waterfront guests.
- Provides information to swimmers regarding safety rules and procedures.
- Tactfully warns patrons who repeatedly disregard safety rules and follows facility Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assists in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020.
- Attends waterfront and/or safety training as directed.
- Assists in maintaining lifeguard tower and waterfront related equipment and supplies.
- Keeps area clean and free from any hazards.
- Maintains daily logs and records as required.
Requirements
- Conditions of employment: Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meets qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. One year probationary period may be required. Satisfactory completion of an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2, including a Tier 1 background investigation. Lifeguard must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected). Must have a health assessment which documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army policy. Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period. Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements. Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty. Selected applicant must be able to pass a Medical Physical Examination.

- Minimum Qualification Criteria: A qualified candidate must possess the following for: 2. Must be willing to obtain First Responder Certification within six (6) months of hire date. 3. Preferred are those with waterfront experience in ocean rescue. Must currently hold the following certifications: Waterfront Lifeguard Certification, CPR/AED Certification, Oxygen Administration Certification, First Aid Certification.
