Summary Of Position
Work with a team comprised of medical professionals, clinicians and case managers to provide support, counseling and community referrals to individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. Recovery Specialist will have direct contact with clients and monitor their daily recovery progress. Responsible for maintaining the safety of clients, facility and provide understanding and direction to the clients in program.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist Intake Coordinator with admission and screening of clients
- Aiding Client’s through the admission process
- Processing Client’s clothes to prevent bed bugs
- Storing and securing Client’s clothes
- Orienting clients to the facility
- Aiding with case management services, as needed
- Ensuring client’s complete daily life skills including personal hygiene
- Ensuring the safety of resident’s (physical and emotional) well being
- Ensuring that the program policies are followed and documenting any deviations
- Providing crisis intervention when necessary
- Aiding with discharging and escorting patients off the premise
- Driving Client’s in the absence of program drivers
- Utilizing standard precautions at all times, maintaining CPR certification and understanding of emergency procedures
- Ensuring clients attend groups and counseling as assigned
- Ensuring clients participate in meals
- Cleaning spills as needed
- Supervising clients during designated smoking breaks (Staff are not allowed to smoke with clients)
- Completing bed checks every 30 minutes noting any issues in the communication log
- Other duties as assigned including assisting with meals if needed
Requirements
- Two years’ experience in health and human service-related field, preferably working with co-occurring behavioral health and substance use disorders.
- Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor preferred.
- Must be able to pass CORI and Drug Testing requirements.
- Demonstrated understanding of, and committed to adhering to, federal and state policies (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA).
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, & boundaries.
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills.
- Candidates with lived expertise are encouraged to apply, if in recovery, must have two years of continuous sobriety.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent interaction with providers, colleagues, clients, residents and visitors requiring the employee to communicate, as well as detect and interpret information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, occasionally during emergency situations.
- Frequent communication of accurate information, instructions, and ideas so others will understand.
- Bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to twenty (20) pounds.
- Frequent movement throughout the program, including up and down multiple flights of stairs to access, obtain, or distribute supplies (sometimes pushing or pulling equipment), conduct wellness checks, interact with clients and residents, etc.
- Remain in a stationary position for an extended period, as needed.
