Position Overview

Operates ready mix trucks in a safe and professional manner in the plant yard, on public highways/roads, and at various job sites to deliver products. Deliveries will be made in both commercial and residential areas.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Maintains equipment in a safe and clean condition.
  • Performs pre and post-trip truck inspections.
  • Verify general compliance with mix specifications after loading and at job site.
  • Aligns mixer drum under disbursement chute at the plant to receive product into the mixer truck drum.
  • Drives ready mix truck to location for unloading.
  • Operate ready mix truck to release concrete down truck chute into area to be poured with concrete.
  • Cleans truck after delivery to prevent concrete from hardening in mixer and on truck
  • Places and operates chutes to deliver product where directed.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.
  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work Requirements: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Knowledge/Skill Requirements: Must possess a valid state commercial driver's license (CDL) Class A or Class B. Must possess a valid Medical Card as per DOT standard.

Physical Requirements

  • GRIP - with at least 75 lbs. of force
  • CLIMBING - in, around, and on equipment
  • HEAVY LIFTING - of extremely awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist
  • CARRYING - awkward parts and equipment up to 50 lbs. for 50 feet or more
  • HIGH LIFT - of up to 50 lbs. floor to shoulder
  • AWKWARD LIFT - of up to 35 lbs. shoulder to away from body
  • FLEXIBILITY- awkward reaches
  • BALANCE – including standing and walking on extremely slick and uneven surfaces while carrying.
  • VISION- 20/40 corrected vision to see moving safety hazards, moving equipment, vehicles, and obstructions
  • HEARING – corrected to hear verbal safety warnings and instructions from coworkers

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; and extreme cold and/or heat.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
