SUMMARY
Sets up and operates both automatic and manual assembly lines, assembles parts to specifications by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain and provide a safe work area and work in a safe manner.
- Report any unsafe conditions to Team Leader immediately.
- Complete Hourly checks using In Process Check Sheets and Gaging to ensure parts meet Quality Specifications.
- Notifies Team Leader of any suspect material and helps to contain material line side.
- Complete changeovers using Changeover Procedure.
- Attach fixtures and jigs to the table positions according to changeover procedure.
- Change out Station changeover pieces according to changeover procedure.
- Fills in Changeover checklist to ensure all changeover steps are complete.
- Completes standardized work in accordance to Work Instructions.
- Removes material from boxes and places in fixture or on conveyor.
- Moves parts from machine to machine as process is completed, i.e. Bolt Press to Pre-Assembly to Final Assembly.
- Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn rolling heads.
- Measures and inspects parts for conformance to specifications, using in process sheets, visual checks and gaging.
- Notifies Team Leader of any abnormal or unusual condition.
- Completes line PM’s (planned maintenance) as assigned.
- Submit kaizen suggestions for improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Regularly stand eight (8) or more hours a day; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Close vision, requires 20/40 near vision, can be with correction; Distance vision, requires 20/40 far vision, can be with correction; Color vision, requires red/green, blue/violet and silver/gold discrimination; Depth perception, accurate depth perception required; Peripheral vision; minimum 160 degrees; and Able to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
