About the Role
Responsible for development, design, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and implementation of new and/or improved designs consisting of electrical low/medium voltage power equipment, engine driven rotating machinery, AC/DC drive and control systems, and other duties within production assembly and field installation environments.
Responsibilities
- Proficient in reading, interpreting, creating, and revising electrical drawings, technical specifications, bill of materials, and computer-generated reports.
- Confer with vendors, staff, and management regarding product specifications and manufacturing capabilities to achieve desired design.
- Work independently with minimal guidance on tasks and projects.
- Understand, follow, and provide input concerning necessary regulatory requirements.
- Perform GAP analysis on standards.
- Create, follow, and provide input concerning project schedules and procedures.
- Resolve issues and provide technical information.
- Review installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure machines and equipment function according to specifications.
- Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of equipment, components, and systems.
- Research electrical/electronic components and systems for use in production and/or replacing obsolete parts.
- Develop electrical design of products using drafting tools or Computer-Assisted Design (CAD) and/or other software.
- Create technical instructions for field modifications and/or testing requests.
- Work with production line assemblers and test line to assure issue-free assemblies.
- Work as a team member independently on ad hoc projects.
- Research, design, install, test, analyze, and maintain electrical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements by applying knowledge of engineering principles.
- Interact with vendors and internal customers to collaborate on projects and tasks.
- Apply electrical code requirements, manufacturability of product, and electrical design experience.
- Host and conduct product design reviews and present information professionally.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional team members regarding changes in project status.
- Compile Work Breakdown Structures and manage tasks.
- Lead design failure mode and effect analyses (DFMEA’s).
- Ensure release packages of department comply with quality and technical content standards.
- Understand overall product architecture and all system interactions.
- Assist in guiding and leading personnel.
- Initiate and execute projects with minimal guidance, even without prior subject experience.

- Proficient in applying electrical equations to circuit analysis (e.g., voltage drop calculations).
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Learn and become proficient in the most recent required department and company procedures, software, and systems.
- Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Familiar and comfortable with reading, understanding, and drawing electrical schematics that meet department standards.
- Communicate efficiently and effectively with a large cross-functional audience.
- Travel up to 10% to customer and/or supplier sites.
- Complete and maintain certifications and/or safety training.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.

- Ability to adequately respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Proficient in performing root cause analysis.
- Highly knowledgeable with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and other codes and regulations.
Qualifications
ABET accredited Master of Science Degree (MS) or a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSEE/EET) with 5-10 years relevant electrical experience in an engineering environment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional climbing of ladders and crawling underneath trailers.
- Work in office, shop floor, and test site settings.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Occasionally exposed to cold, heat, noise, mechanical/electrical fumes, or odor.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to work with fingers.
- Normal vision with or without corrective lenses.
