Principal Electrical Engineer III

About the role

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer III in Chandler, AZ. The Chandler group works on a variety of launch vehicles including GPI, Antares, Minotaur, Pegasus, GMD, Sentinel, and more. This role involves designing, testing, and integrating complex systems for various purposes including ISS cargo resupply, defense satellite deployment, missile interceptor technology, and target vehicle development.

Job Duties

• Perform analysis, design, and test of complex designs based on specific objectives.
• Review internal, external, industry, customer, and range requirements to support system and subsystem designs.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews and briefings for management and customers.
• Lead test programs to evaluate design performance.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts and failure investigations.
• Mentor other engineers and perform senior peer reviews.
• Collaborate with other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), engineering disciplines, and operations/manufacturing groups.

Job Responsibilities

• Apply industry and company electrical engineering technical standards.
• Show broad technical expertise and working knowledge of related disciplines.
• Prepare and present engineering materials for Requirements and Design Reviews.
• Perform qualification acceptance testing, characterization testing, troubleshooting, and test data review.
• Analyze data to identify trends indicating potential issues.
• Evaluate uncertainty and risks associated with requirements and designs.
• Participate in trade studies for internal projects and procured equipment.
• Ensure safety is prioritized throughout the role.
• Mentor and train team members across diverse technologies and architectures.
• Use basic test equipment and analytical software tools to analyze and reduce data.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant experience or 3+ years with a Master's degree.
• U.S. Citizenship with a current Secret or higher security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with missile systems and associated standards.
• Experience with design, test, and/or integration of electrical components or subsystems.

Primary Level Salary Range

$95,300.00 - $142,900.00
