Engineer III, Electrical
About the role
In this role, you will support electrical engineering activities across Moderna’s Norwood campus to ensure the reliability, compliance, and sustainability of facility utility systems and manufacturing infrastructure. You will contribute to electrical system design, maintenance strategy optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives that enable uninterrupted GMP manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Support development of utility and electrical system specifications for new installations, upgrades, and modifications.
- Provide technical engineering input to develop scopes of work, assist in project execution planning, and support associated engineering studies in alignment with site standards.
- Review electrical construction drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with site requirements, GMP standards, and industry codes.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance program improvements to enhance equipment reliability and system performance.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting and root cause investigations (RCFA) to resolve equipment and system failures.
- Aid in reliability assessments including data collection, FMEA, FTA, and other structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Perform field activities including data collection, one-line drawing updates, and electrical system analysis.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors on construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
- Support facility and utility shutdown planning and execution activities.
- Apply good engineering practices and sound judgment to drive safe, compliant, and efficient operations.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in facilities, utilities, manufacturing, or a related engineering environment.
- This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time.
- This position is not eligible for remote work.
Qualifications
- Experience supporting electrical systems in GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biotechnology environments.
- Familiarity with reliability engineering principles and maintenance optimization strategies.
- Experience supporting root cause analysis, FMEA, or other structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and construction drawings.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and project teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Pay & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $89,900.00 - $143,800.00. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An individual’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, performance, and business or organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, other incentive compensation, or equity award, subject to company plan eligibility criteria and individual performance.
