Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering design for power generation projects from concept through commissioning
- Develop and review electrical system designs including power distribution, protection, grounding, lighting, and controls interfaces
- Plan, assign, and manage work for electrical engineers and designers to meet project scope, schedule, and budget
- Review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documents for quality and compliance
- Cover compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements (NEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA)
- Estimate engineering effort, quantities, and material requirements; support project budgeting and forecasting
- Support equipment procurement, including technical evaluations and vendor coordination
- Participate in constructability reviews, hazard analyses, and design reviews
- Provide technical support to construction, commissioning, and startup teams, including field visits as required
- Interface with clients, project managers, and leadership on engineering progress and technical decisions
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and designers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- Minimum 7 years of electrical engineering experience in power generation or industrial projects
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure
- Prior experience leading electrical engineering scope and project teams
- Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE/ANSI, and NEMA standards
- Experience with medium- and low-voltage electrical equipment and systems
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in both office and field environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Lead Engineer experience on EPC projects
- 10+ years of experience in power generation (combined cycle, fossil, renewable, or cogeneration)
- Experience with electrical system analysis tools (e.g., ETAP)
- Experience with switchyards, large transformers, generator circuit breakers, and utility interconnections
- Electrical equipment procurement experience
