Radiology Technologist II- Mammography | Clinic

About the role

This position rotates to all of our Sioux Falls facilities that perform mammography, including 7th Ave, 69th and Cliff, and 69th and Western. The position also performs diagnostic X-ray exams.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiographic and mammography imaging procedures accurately, efficiently, and according to established standards and protocols.
• Determines proper exposure techniques for each exam.
• Positions equipment for optimal breast imaging views.
• Safely activates machine while shielded and wears dose monitor badges.
• Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention.
• Reviews appropriate indications for exams ordered and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides exam data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to reading radiologist for interpretation.
• Utilizes computer systems such as PACS/RIS/HIS/EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
• Archives image data for permanent storage and appropriately sends images to radiologist group.
• Retrieves stored images from PACS or disc back-up and makes CDs successfully.
• Facilitates transfer of images to be sent to outside facilities for comparison.
• Assures that reports are sent to outside providers as requested.
• Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environment, and infection control.
• Assists/mentors staff/student on-the-job training and orientation.
• Assists with analysis, collection, and maintenance of records as required by department manager, Quality Improvement, Joint Commission, MDH, ACR standards, OSHA guidelines, or as may be required by the facility or law.

Requirements

• Associate’s or certificate of completion from an accredited School of Radiology.
• Radiography (R) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire.
• Mammography (M) certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 1 year.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience as a radiology technologist preferred.
