About the role

Level II is intended for candidates with 1–3 years of mammography experience, current ARRT certification in Radiography, Mammography, and Breast Sonography [ARRT(R)(M)(BS)]. This level of technologist demonstrates advanced clinical competency in breast imaging. To qualify, technologists must be credentialed in Breast Sonography through either ARRT or ARDMS. For team members who have not yet obtained this credential, Denver Health provides on-the-job training and development opportunities to help you achieve certification; upon successful completion of the Breast Sonography certification examination, Denver Health will reimburse the cost of the exam.

If you do not meet these requirements, the Mammography Technologist I pay range is from $34.06 - $51.09 and requires current ARRT(R)(M) certification and a minimum of 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs screening and diagnostic mammograms following appropriate assessment by clinicians. (45%)
• Performs ultrasound imaging studies in a timely manner according to physicians’ orders, established protocols, and/or specific radiologist’s directions. (20%)
• Assists radiologists during interventional procedures (breast biopsies, needle localizations), including procedure preparation, post-procedural patient care (e.g., breast compression, retrieval of ice, delivery of biopsy specimen to laboratory). (15%)
• Ensures patient safety, comfort, and personal dignity by following appropriate patient care guidelines, including use of 2 patient identifiers. (5%)
• Operates PACS applications on a day-to-day basis, including archiving activities, image auto-routing, prefetching tasks, and image quality assurance. (5%)
• Assists in the maintenance of department inventory by ordering, stocking, and performing inventory checks on medical supplies used for radiographic examinations. (5%)
• Ensures the Mammography department is appropriately equipped and maintained in a clean, safe, and hazard-free manner. (5%)

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience performing breast screening and diagnostic procedures
• Associate's Degree
• Current ARRT certification in Radiography (RTR-RT), Mammography (RTM-RT), and Breast Sonography (RTBS-RT) or ARDMS Breast Sonography (BR) certification

Skills

• Knowledge of digital mammography and breast ultrasound equipment operation
• Competency in performing screening/diagnostic mammograms and interventional breast procedures
• Ability to address age-specific care needs of patients
• Effective interpersonal skills for productive communication and collaboration
• Competency in interpreting physician order requests for screening/diagnostic breast examinations
• Ability to exercise prudent judgment in selecting and configuring equipment settings to compensate for patient physiologic variances
• Ability to consistently produce quality images of the breast region
• General computer knowledge

Pay

$35.47 - $53.21 per hour
