Responsibilities
- Prepares and performs radiological (X-ray) imaging of the breast (mammography).
- Reads and comprehends imaging orders, engaging with physicians when necessary.
- Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters based on knowledge of human anatomy.
- Interviews patients to understand risk factors and guide them through the examination process.
- Uploads imaging results into PACS and records information into EMR system.
- Precepts entry-level staff and orients new colleagues as needed.
- Collaborates to plan the workday and patient flow with colleagues.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Science.
- Five (5) years of experience working in a clinical imaging role, with at least three (3) years specifically in mammography.
- Advanced certification in Mammography (ARRT-M) from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Good understanding of human anatomy, either through education or experience.
- Experience performing stereotactic guided breast biopsies and/or contrast-enhanced mammography.
- Experience reading and interpreting radiology orders.
- Experience working with PACS.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Qualifications
- Must have a current unrestricted license to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the state of North Carolina.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills, particularly in explaining procedures to patients.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle stressful situations.
- Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in using PACS and EMR systems.
