About the role

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is seeking candidates for Radiologic Technologist positions in Anchorage, AK. ANTHC is a non-profit Tribal health organization dedicated to serving Alaska Native and American Indian communities.

Responsibilities

  • All P erforms diagnostic imaging examinations according to department procedures.
  • Locates and records internal elements of the body.
  • Makes sure the patient is safe and comfortable during the procedure.
  • Notifies the physician if there are any abnormalities.
  • Adjusts equipment and positions the patient to get clear images.
  • Instructs patients about the procedure and answers their questions.
  • Performs palpation of body landmarks to ensure proper positioning.
  • Works with radiologists, other physicians, and speech pathologists during fluoroscopic examinations.
  • Administers and prepares contrast agents.
  • Provides exceptional patient care and customer service.
  • Communicates effectively with other departments.
  • Evaluates orders for medical history and corrects any unclear or erroneous orders.
  • Reviews and logs data into the electronic medical record and updates PACS.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and workspace.
  • Recognizes and addresses equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintains a clean and organized department following infection control procedures.
  • Adheres to ALARA principles and uses radiation protection devices.
  • Provides over-the-phone assistance to teleradiology sites.
  • Reports to the hospital within 30 minutes of being called in.

Qualifications

  • Radiology Technologist I: Non-supervisory - None
  • Radiology Technologist II: Non-supervisory - One (1) year of professional work experience in Radiography
  • Radiology Technologist III: Non-supervisory - Three (3) years professional work experience in Radiography

Skills

  • Knowledge of radiography as demonstrated by registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Knowledge of Cerner Electronic Health Record system
  • Knowledge of diagnostic technologist principals, practices, and concepts
  • Knowledge of diagnostic protocols, techniques, and requirements
  • Knowledge of reference standards and regulatory requirements for radiography safety
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, sterile practices, infection control, basic life support, and other applicable practices
  • Knowledge of radiation protection standards, devices, and techniques including concepts of accumulated dosage and genetic changes, effects of radiation on living organisms, and the effects of x-ray techniques on patients and operator exposure
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, such as the location, appearance, and function of major and minor systems subject to radiological imaging, in order to interpret the examination request accurately
  • Interpersonal relationships skills
  • Radiologic positioning, exam procedures, and basic nursing practices related to radiography, including emergency procedures, sterile operating room practices, infections control techniques, and cardiac arrest techniques (CPR)
  • Monitoring patient responses and operating defibrillator equipment
  • Performing radiology testing procedures
  • Able to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications
