Radiology Technologists are a critical part of performing high-quality pediatric diagnostic imaging and conscientious patient care at Children's Hospital Colorado. This role leverages advanced imaging technology to facilitate diagnosis and exceptional treatment for our patients, creating a brighter future for children at one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals. Their proficiency is pivotal in achieving precise medical assessments and upholding patient well-being.

Responsibilities

• Produces high-quality radiographic images, both fixed and portable, while accurately demonstrating anatomy and pathology.
• Facilitates patient flow daily, including management of STAT/urgent and high-priority patients.
• Provides age-appropriate care and appropriately prepares patients for procedures.
• Provides clear and detailed information regarding procedures and care to patients, families, coworkers, and others.
• Operates all diagnostic imaging equipment, including ancillary equipment, following safety procedures and protocols.
• Utilizes principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) and ensures proper radiation safety practices.
• Maintains required competency in dose reduction techniques and the Image Gently Campaign.
• Demonstrates and maintains competency in using Radiology Information System (RIS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
• Acts as a first responder in emergencies and provides Basic Life Support (BLS) until help arrives.
• Verifies patient allergies and clinical indications prior to contrast administration.
• Safely administers contrast using the five rights and ensures appropriate documentation in patients’ medical records.
• Assists providers with procedures while maintaining technologist scope of practice.
• Follows established procedural guidelines, documents required information, and practices aseptic/sterile technique and standard precautions.
• Adheres to department policies, procedures, and protocols, addressing concerns regarding non-compliance or patient/staff safety.
• Follows quality assurance/control (QA/QC) and safety programs, including The Joint Commission, American College of Radiology (ACR), and State of Colorado standards.
• Reports equipment malfunctions or errors promptly and contacts service engineers or Biomed for repairs.
• Communicates clearly and effectively in verbal and written forms, following department guidelines for customer service.
• Maintains flexibility around shift scheduling, location, call requirements, overtime, and weekend assignments to align with organizational needs.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Radiology program.
• Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT(R)).
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider.

Pay

Hourly range: $30.94 to $45.05, based on hours worked per week and years of experience.

40 hours per week, varied days with rotating call and holidays.
