Position Summary
The R&D Coordinator supports product development, reformulation, and commercialization activities within a seafood manufacturing environment. This role coordinates product trials, maintains documentation, ensures regulatory compliance, and serves as a liaison between R&D, Quality Assurance, Production, Procurement, and Sales to successfully bring new and improved seafood products to market.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate benchtop and plant trials for new seafood products (fresh, frozen, value-added, ready-to-eat, etc.).
- Document and manage all relevant data and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Quality Assurance, Production, Procurement, and Sales.
- Sensory and quality support as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in food product development, preferably in a seafood manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, familiarity with food safety standards, and ability to use laboratory equipment.
- Competencies: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical & Work Environment
The position requires occasional travel to other PAFCO locations for product trials and meetings. The work environment includes a professional office setting with some exposure to food processing environments.
Preferred Attributes (Seafood-Specific)
- Experience with seafood ingredients and processing techniques.
- Knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations.
