About the role
LanguageLine Solutions is hiring a Quichua-English phone interpreter to work remotely from your home. This is an independent contractor position and not eligible for employee benefits.
Responsibilities
- Handle interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
- Render accurate interpretations of conversations between Quichua and English speakers.
- Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and remain calm during interpreting sessions.
- Adapt to various industries and sensitive topics such as end of life conversations, pregnancy termination, vaccinations, and matters concerning sexual orientation and/or gender expression.
- Follow client instructions and comply with protocol to meet client expectations.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Quichua and English with cultural competency.
- Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
- Ability to concentrate and remain neutral during interpreting sessions.
- Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have access to a quiet space and a reliable internet connection.
- Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse for long periods.
- Must have sufficient manual dexterity to type or write.
- Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs.

Pay
The pay rate is $1.25 - $1.40 per minute.
Schedule
This is a remote position where the interpreter works from their home-office. It is essential to ensure a quiet & secure environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and write English and Quichua.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Access to a dedicated personal device for business purposes.
- A reliable internet connection with speeds of no less than 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, 300 ms ping, and 30 ms jitter.
- Quiet workspace free from background noise or distraction.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to operate a keyboard and mouse for long periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 26 lbs.
- May be exposed to moderate noise levels.
