Queens District Attorney's Office Brave Justice 1L Summer 2027 Legal Internship
We are currently seeking applicants for our Summer Legal Internship, running from June 7, 2027 through August 6, 2027. This opportunity is open to first-year law students (1L). Interviews for qualified candidates will begin after mid-January, when transcripts become available. Early applications are encouraged.
About the role
This highly competitive internship program offers law students an outstanding opportunity to learn about the Queens District Attorney's Office, which serves the most diverse county in the country. Interns will work closely with Assistant District Attorneys, gaining hands-on experience as advocates and fair-minded public servants. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated interest in public service and criminal law.
Responsibilities
- Researching and writing assignments for pending cases
- Motion and discovery practice
- Assisting with search warrant applications
- Observing proffers
- Conducting civilian and police interviews
- Court appearances pursuant to the student practice order
- Visiting crime scenes
- Participating in community outreach programs with the Community Partnerships Division
Interns will also attend divisional and office-wide legal training sessions.
Schedule
- Program runs for approximately 9 weeks, beginning June 2027
- In-person work Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Assignments to specific bureaus within Investigations, Criminal Practice and Policy, Appeals and Special Litigation, Major Crimes, or Supreme Court Trial Division
Pay
A stipend of $900 per week is available for the duration of the internship. Students receiving partial outside funding will be supplemented by QDA funding.
