NY Summer 2027 Legal Intern

About the role

Harbor Group International (HGI) is seeking a qualified intern to join its in-house Legal department for a paid summer internship position. The successful candidate will be part of the Harbor Group Summer Internship Program, a 10-week program where the Legal intern will work on real estate transactions and general corporate matters. This role is based in the Norfolk, Virginia Corporate Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist with real estate transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and financings.
• Assist in the review and drafting of non-disclosure agreements, corporate governance documents, vendor agreements, and other legal documents.
• Interface with other departments such as Transactions, Asset Management, and Human Resources.
• Collaborate and contribute to special projects and presentations.
• Deliver a final presentation to senior leadership.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• Completed first or second year of law school.
• 10-week commitment (June–August).
• One year of customer service work experience.
• Interest in multifamily and commercial real estate.
• Professionalism in quality of work, punctuality, attendance, and attitude.
• Dependability, good judgment, and strong organizational skills.
• Initiative, engagement, and eagerness to gain industry knowledge.
• Leadership qualities and ability to maintain positive working relationships with peers.
• Adherence to the Company’s mission, vision, values, and policies.
• Professional dress and conduct conducive to a corporate environment.
