About the Role
The Quality Engineer Team Lead is responsible for leading and driving products and process quality initiatives to ensure compliance, reduce costs, improve operational efficiency, and deliver sustainable business benefits. This role combines technical leadership with people management, driving the implementation of corrective actions related to product quality, process performance, new product introduction, and continuous improvements.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to drive process improvements and defect reduction.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of inspectors and technicians.
- Coach other key team members in quality methodologies and problem-solving techniques.
- Prioritize investigations, lead root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate product reliability testing and qualification efforts by working closely with Design and Manufacturing teams.
- Actively participate in new product development and introduction, ensuring quality is built into product design and manufacturing processes from the beginning.
- Drive the use of statistical and analytical methods to monitor trends and improve overall process performance and product quality.
- Manage, enhance, improve, and track quality metrics specific, measurable, and relevant to continuous improvement efforts.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support supplier quality activities, including supplier performance monitoring, corrective actions, and process improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Science degree in Engineering or other related technical discipline.
- Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification (SSGB or SSBB) preferred.
- ASQ CQE certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 7+ years of engineering and/or quality systems experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with management skills.
- Experience with ISO standards.
- Experience with supplier development and process improvement.
- Experience with 5S, DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Poke-yoke, and other Lean Six Sigma tools.
- Experience with assembly processes, work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, and SPC.
- Understanding of or familiarity with standard cost accounting and department budgets.
