Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Quality Control Technician to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing, measuring, and auditing plastic sheet products to ensure strict compliance with manufacturing and quality standards. This position includes cross-training across various production floor operations to build a comprehensive understanding of our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform visual and dimensional checks on plastic sheets, including surface inspections and counting sheets for order accuracy.
- Precision Measurement: Gauge product dimensions using micrometers, tape measures (verifying length, width, and squareness), and specialized color meters.
- Testing & Analysis: Conduct plastic shrinkage testing utilizing industrial ovens according to standard operating procedures.
- Data Documentation: Meticulously document all inspection results, test data, and quality findings.
- Material Handling: Safely operate a tow motor/forklift to move materials and take production line samples weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Floor Support: Assist with inventory cycle counts, use basic hand tools (hammers, circular saws, table saws, band saws, nail guns), and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience working in a general warehouse setting is required; familiarity with cycle counts and a background in plastics or extrusion processes is a major plus.
- Technical Skills: Strong mathematical proficiency, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to accurately read a tape measure and use manual precision tools.
- Equipment & Tools: Prior tow motor/forklift driving experience is required (certification is a plus); comfort using basic power saws and hand tools.
- Communication: Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate clearly in a fast-paced team environment.
- Educational Background: High school diploma or GED equivalent minimum; basic computer skills are preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, or balance throughout a 12-hour shift.
- Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally assist with moving components weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Visual acuity required for close inspection, distance, color evaluation, and depth perception.
