About the Opportunity

We are a well-established, industry-certified manufacturer with over 50 years of history producing engineered concrete products for infrastructure, utilities, and transportation markets across the Midwest. Our plant holds dual national certifications for quality and production excellence, and we have a deep track record of delivering precision-manufactured components for some of the region's most complex infrastructure projects.

The Role

We are looking to add multiple Quality Control Technicians to our plant team in Morris, IL. This is a hands-on, plant-floor role responsible for conducting inspections and testing throughout the production cycle to ensure our products meet the precise standards required by clients, regulatory bodies, and industry certification programs. If you have a background in measuring, inspecting, or testing in any manufacturing or construction materials environment, we want to talk to you. We can train the specifics -- what we need is sharp attention to detail, a quality-minded attitude, and the drive to do the job right every time.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-pour and post-pour inspections of products using established checklists and project-specific specifications
  • Execute fresh concrete testing procedures including slump flow, density, air content, yield, temperature, and compressive strength
  • Verify reinforcement placement, embedded items, product dimensions, and surface finishes against approved production drawings
  • Cover aggregate and raw material sampling and testing as needed
  • Accurately record all test results in QC logs, batch documentation, and daily reports
  • Generate nonconformance reports for any products falling outside of spec, and coordinate corrective action with the production team
  • Maintain calibration records for all testing equipment and assist with scheduled calibrations
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with applicable industry standards and state DOT specifications
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and project management teams to catch and correct defects early in the process
  • Participate in internal audits, corrective action reviews, and third-party certification inspections

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control, inspection, or testing -- concrete, construction materials, manufacturing, or a hands-on precision environment all considered
  • Comfort working with measurement tools, inspection instruments, and testing equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, production drawings, and technical specifications
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate documentation and recordkeeping
  • Good communication skills with the ability to flag issues clearly to supervisors and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work on-site in a plant environment, including physical stamina to lift up to 80 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Willingness to work in varying plant conditions including temperature, dust, and noise with consistent use of PPE

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACI Level 1 Certification or equivalent concrete testing credential
  • Direct experience with precast concrete or ready-mix concrete production or QC
  • Familiarity with ASTM, PCI, or NPCA quality standards
  • Experience with self-consolidating concrete (SCC) testing or production

Benefits

This is a stable, long-term opportunity -- not a temporary gig -- with a team that takes quality seriously and invests in the people who uphold it.
