About the role

We are hiring a full-time Plastics Quality Control (QC) Technician responsible for performing various physical properties tests on finished compounds and plastic raw materials as required to support the manufacture of high-quality plastic products. Operates testing and processing equipment in accordance with the internal standardized procedures. Co-operates and communicates with all manufacturing departments.

Pay

The QC Technician has an average starting rate of up to $20.00 an hour (including overtime and shift differential if applicable) at our Portland, PA location.

Schedule

  • 2-week rotational 2*2*3 schedule: Sun, Wed, Thurs and Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat (36 hrs / 48 hrs)
  • Night Shift schedule: 6:00 pm – 6:00 am
  • Day Shift schedule: 6:00 am – 6:00 pm

Responsibilities

  • Understands and follows all company policies, practices, and procedures
  • Follows standardized work processes and adheres to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
  • Ensures housekeeping duties are performed in the work area
  • Maintains the inventory of all supplies needed for the QA office
  • Completes appropriate logs and paperwork pertaining to the QA office both manually and electronically
  • Sets up and operates all the analytical and processing/converting equipment in the QA Department area as part of sample preparation processes
  • Collect and evaluate the samples (plastic compounds) from the production to ensure the product meets customer specifications
  • Report the results and findings promptly through emails and updating the internal QA interface system
  • Understand product names along with their critical tests and release criteria
  • Periodically communicate pertinent information to the QA supervisor and other employees as needed
  • Interacts with the production, packing, and logistics departments as needed
  • Performing troubleshooting and issue maintenance work orders as needed
  • Perform raw material testing per internal standard procedures
  • Other duties related with QA / RD assigned by the supervisor

Experience and Education

  • High School diploma preferred
  • Knowledgeable and proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Detail-oriented
  • Prior related plastics mechanical testing experience preferred
  • Understanding basic mechanical processes and how a machine operates is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in fast-paced and time-sensitive process manufacturing industry is preferred
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical testing calculations
  • Ability to read and follow manuals and procedures

Physical Qualifications

  • Lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Standing for an extended period
  • Lift, throw, bend, squat, twist, and reach
  • Work in both hot and cold conditions

Requirements

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship
  • Must be able to work the 12-hour shift and specified days
  • Be a dependable self-starter with a desire to learn and cross-train
  • Have a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and excellent attendance
