Quality Control Technician

Responsible For

Proficiently perform routine histology techniques and maintain good documentation practices (GDPs) in recordkeeping to support Quality Control Product Release Testing.

  • Sample receipt and accessioning
  • Initial sample preparation (e.g., rehydration, rinsing, generating labels, etc.)
  • Standard grossing and observations
  • Fixation
  • Paraffin and cryo-embedding
  • Paraffin and cryo-microtomy
  • Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) staining (as assigned)

Solution Preparation, Supply Management, and Equipment Operation

Prepare stock and working solutions and label according to chemical management procedures. Maintain chemical inventory control and storage requirements. Operate standard and histology laboratory equipment. Replenish supplies as needed. Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and workstations.

Compliance and Safety

  • Comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory safety procedures
  • Maintain department databases/files
  • Adhere to waste disposal regulations for chemicals and biohazard materials
  • Tag equipment out-of-service as required; report and schedule service calls when needed
  • Adhere to FDA, AATB, OSHA, ISO, and USP standards
  • Follow established operating procedures, safety policies, and training requirements
  • Adhere to company work standards and Code of Conduct

Support Continuous Improvement and Quality Management

  • Support continuous improvement efforts
  • Ensure lab records and logbooks are reviewed and retained
  • Participate in Quality Improvement processes and projects

Laboratory Maintenance

  • Prepare stock and working solutions and label according to chemical management procedures
  • Maintain chemical inventory control and storage requirements
  • Observe universal and safety precautions when handling biological specimens and chemicals
  • Replenish supplies as needed
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and workstations
  • Notify supervisor/management of nonconformances/deviations/safety concerns
  • Support equipment validations and draft equipment specifications
  • Suggest improvements to Standard Operating Procedures related to job function

Qualifications

  • A.S. in Biology/related science or equivalent work experience
  • Technical Certification (HT, HTL or related) preferred
  • 3-5 years Histology laboratory experience
  • Experience in GXP lab environment preferred
