Quality Control Technician
Franklin Park, IL
Hiring Immediately

  • Compensation: Starting rate of $19.65 - $21.01 per hour
  • Available Shift: 7am-7pm, 7pm-7am

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Adhere to safety rules and procedures.
  • Retrieve and review the Product Specification Sheet for each run.
  • Maintain and update product specification spreadsheets as needed and requested.
  • Perform measurements and tests for fit and function, as detailed in the specification sheets.
  • Enter data and ensure complete and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Initiate holding of product out-of specification or otherwise defective.
  • Clock in and out, coordinate return of product with Shipping Team Leads.
  • Mark and save samples of defective product, as needed.
  • Explain Product Traceability Components.
  • Perform daily inspection of thermoforming production, including inspection of packaging, labeling, sample retention cart for hourly collection, mold shots, verification for time code stamping etc.
  • Perform daily inspection of extrusion production, including verification of using scanners, verify if running correct order and inspection sheet quality.
  • Maintain and update Extrusion Hold Log.
  • Perform daily gauge/instrument calibrations, and GR&R studies as directed.
  • Attend daily Tier I meetings.
  • Prepare and send daily shift summary.
  • Participate in cross-training, and recurring/alternating assignments among QC technicians (such as preparing and sending samples for microbiological testing).
  • Assess first production run product to customer requirements.
  • Absorb and assist with training others as needed, including training backup QC Technicians.
  • Cook off defects.
  • Coordinate rework inspection.
  • Stay aware of past customer complaints, and corrective actions.
  • Take direction from Quality Manager and Team Lead.
  • File Quality and Production documentation as needed.
  • Ensure Compliance to BRC requirements.

Product Safety

To Ensure Product Safety, This Position Will Adhere to Pactiv’s GMP requirements. Give special attention to document related aspects of the GMP’s such as record correction, use of ink, etc. No use of Pactiv product for storing miscellaneous items, or any other use. Identify product and/or situations that risk product contamination, and report them to Supervision, or otherwise help prevent them from leaving the plant. Identify product and/or situations that violate cleaning and pest control requirements. Identify any maintenance activity that may risk product safety. Report maintenance cleaning activity violations. Make certain that employees follow procedures, work instructions, etc. to produce quality and safe product; report violations to the shift Supervisor and Quality Manager. Audit for compliance to procedures, work instructions, etc. to produce quality and safe product; report results to the shift Supervisor and Quality Manager. Make certain that no glass is allowed on the manufacturing floor.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrate team spirit, and willingness to be trained as needed.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and effective written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrate good computer skills – in particular in Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Physical Requirements

  • Technicians must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent walking, grasping and lifting of up to 50 pounds is required.
  • Ability to use a keyboard and typing.
