Quality Control Technician
About the Role
Responsible for wet section process control and laboratory-based quality activities, supporting coating performance, compliance, and production troubleshooting through testing, inspections, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Provide wet section process control, including execution of drawdowns and related coating tests
- Conduct claim inspections and complete all required claim testing, including panels and retained samples
- Perform chemical titrations on pretreatment and wastewater systems in accordance with established procedures
- Monitor and verify coating weights, oven cure conditions, and color standards to ensure product conformance
- Verify incoming raw materials meet specification and compliance requirements
- Support internal audits and respond to customer quality documentation requests
- Assist production teams with troubleshooting coating, process, and quality-related issues
- Calibrate laboratory equipment and testing devices according to defined schedules and procedures
- Maintain laboratory chemical inventory and testing supplies to support continuous operations
- Exchange chemical totes using a forklift and perform coating weight checks on steel strip samples
- Provide backup support for product disposition activities and waste treatment processes
- Perform additional related duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with quality inspection
- Ability to read and comprehend written materials such as customer specifications, SOPs, work rules, etc.
- Detail-oriented – ensures accuracy of product and documentation to meet internal and/or external customer demands
- Basic math and measurement skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test as a condition of employment
Preferred Qualifications
- Metals, coating, roll forming, or industrial manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of ASTM coating tests
- Experience with spectrophotometer equipment
- ISO quality system experience
Skills

- Good communication skills
- Mobile equipment operations skills
- Ability to read and comprehend written materials such as schedules, customer specs, SOPs, work rules, etc.
Work Environment
The employee may be required to enter areas that are near moving mechanical parts, with occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals, and extreme cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is considered moderate and may require the use of hearing protection. The employee will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when accessing certain manufacturing areas.
