About the role

The Technician III evaluates claims and conducts various testing activities and analysis on sample material. They communicate results effectively and report meaningful and unbiased conclusions based on evaluations. They lead and contribute to improvements in lab evaluation processes, Job Safety Analysis, and Standard Operating Procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead claim evaluations to determine manufacturing and performance characteristics.
  • Conduct testing per established protocols and provide accurate data.
  • Aid in making data-driven decisions on lab dispositions.
  • Review and improve process flows on a continuous basis per field feedback.
  • Improve lab efficiency through monitoring of claims influx and prioritizing work to meet lab evaluation metrics.
  • Strong practical knowledge of key product lines, lab evaluation processes, products specifications, and application instructions.
  • Assist in root cause analysis investigations and report findings in a clear meaningful format.
  • Participate in problem-solving teams.
  • Build partnerships across different teams such as warranty, field services, R&D, and manufacturing plants.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes of different products.
  • Familiarity with quality fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of engineering/science fundamentals.
  • Lead lab maintenance and equipment calibration program.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibration of equipment on a predetermined frequency.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation.
  • Learn and develop new test methods, SOPs, and JSAs.
  • Assist supervisor to organize daily lab work flow.
  • Train new hires, develop, mentor, and provide guidance to junior technicians.
  • Plans and executes assigned projects and prioritizes tasks through time management system.
  • Cook up and coordinate the use of other resources (both internal and external) to meet project goals and timelines.
  • Assure all activities are performed safely per established safety guidelines.
  • Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly fashion on a daily basis following 5S guidelines.
  • Complete monthly safety training.
  • Contribute to Job Safety Analysis and Standard Operating Procedure development.
  • Champion safety activities and lead housekeeping.
  • Knowledge of Safety precautions, health hazards, SDS forms.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in relevant technical field paired with 2+ years of practical, industry-related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in relevant technical field paired with 2+ years of practical, industry-related experience is preferred.
  • Proven track record (2–5 years) in a manufacturing or R&D lab setting.
  • Experience navigating quality control, analytical testing, or product development within the roofing or construction materials sector is highly desirable.

Pay

  • Base salary range: $64,014 - $88,019.

Schedule

  • Travel requirements: 5%.
