Quality Assurance Technician I

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine testing to ensure compliance with internal/external specifications and food safety programs.
• Communicate important quality, safety, and security concerns promptly to co-workers and the Quality Assurance Manager.
• Calibrate and troubleshoot testing procedures, maintaining calibration logs.
• Perform monthly intra-lab check samples.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area, including assigned sanitation duties.
• Support the Mission and Motto of Mennel Milling Company.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in cereal science, food science, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, analytical instrument, microbiology or related field preferred.
• Ability to prioritize and organize tasks efficiently.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate Microsoft Office software, Internet, and other computer software.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Mathematical skills, including basic arithmetic operations.

No supervisory responsibilities with this role.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Regularly stands, walks, uses hands to perform maintenance tasks, reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, twists, crouches, or crawls.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
• Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with conditions such as moving equipment and machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold, and exposure to common wheat allergens.
• Exposure to noisy conditions may require the use of hearing protection.
