QMHP-Youth & Family Intake & Counseling

About the role

Position performs complex therapeutic and psychosocial intake services including counseling, screening, diagnoses, skills training, routine case management, and others as clinically indicated for youth. All services are delivered from a person-centered, culturally, and linguistically appropriate, trauma-informed perspective.

Responsibilities

• Providing psychotherapy using state approved evidence-based models (CBT, TF-CBT, CPT, Play Therapy, PCIT, and Family Therapy)
• Conducting psychosocial and diagnostic assessments as credentials permit
• Ensuring individuals seeking services meet financial and clinical requirements for LifePath programs and has ability to explain offerings based on individual's level of care
• Developing individual recovery plans and collaborating with the individual/family to determine appropriate route of services and level of care
• Collaboratively working within intake team to ensure same day access to services
• Using initiative and independent judgment to provide interventions in the community, home, and school to best meet the individual's need
• Troubleshooting and organizing support, interventions, and services to achieve outcomes
• Working independently and collaboratively as needed and having effective communication with supervisory staff when necessary
• Ensuring services provided meet the guidelines in accordance with individual's benefit plans
• Ensuring compliance with TAC requirements/rules with all services provided
• Timely and thorough documentation, time management and organizational skills, effective scheduling, adherence to crisis procedures and availability to assist with crisis and other coverage areas as needed

Performance targets

• Productivity target of 80 service hours per month
• All progress notes are signed within 2 business days of service
• All documentation meets 90 percent passing auditing standards
• All required trainings are completed prior to due date
• If Bilingual and receiving stipend, employee will be available to translate for other staff as needed and will utilize approved language in the provision of services as needed

Qualifications

Education, Training, & Experience (including licensure & certification)

• Master's degree in counseling, social work, or related field required
• Licensed Professional Counselor – Associate, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy – Associate, or LMSW dependent upon completion of supervised hours and time to full licensure
• CCBHC knowledge and experience preferred
• CBT, CPT, TF-CBT, or Play Therapy and/or PCIT certification preferred; CBT and TF-CBT certification required within 1 year of employment
• Bilingual preferred
• Knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care Practices required
• Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license

Knowledge, skills, & abilities

• Knowledge of the current version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)
• Experience providing psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, service coordination, skills training, counseling, and crisis intervention services to individuals with serious mental illness or serious emotional disturbance
• Knowledge of the social services system and the ability to connect individuals with appropriate services
• Knowledge of counseling techniques and processes – especially Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
• Ability to write clearly and professionally on all services and internal communications
• Ability to think clearly and logically while dealing with potentially dangerous and/or emotional situations
• Ability to respond to individuals with patience, empathy and understanding
• Organized, detail-oriented, and computer-proficient
• Ability to demonstrate strong multi-cultural competency
• Bilingual preferred
