About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled QA Automation Test Engineer to support an Agile team responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing applications for a federal government client. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the quality, performance, accessibility, and reliability of software products through comprehensive manual and automated testing strategies. This role requires a proactive approach to designing test cases, developing automation frameworks, and integrating testing processes into CI/CD pipelines. The position offers an opportunity to work remotely with occasional travel, contributing to impactful government projects that require adherence to strict safeguarding and compliance standards, including handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) or equivalent combination of education and 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in automation testing tools and scripting
  • At least 3+ years of experience with automation testing tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Postman, or similar
  • Proven experience developing automation and performance testing frameworks from scratch
  • Experience creating reusable test automation solutions and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with functional, regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing
  • Manual accessibility testing experience using screen readers and accessibility tools
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience collaborating across cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Developers, and Business Analysts
  • Familiarity with Azure / .NET is preferred
  • Federal Government contractor experience is preferred
  • DHS Trusted Tester Certification is a plus
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination
  • U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases for web applications, APIs, and integrated systems
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test strategies, plans, and approaches to support automation efforts and quality objectives
  • Provide detailed feedback on testing outcomes, including problem identification, acceptance criteria, and documentation in ticketing systems
  • Build and sustain reusable automated test scripts, utilities, and components to enhance testing efficiency and reduce repetitive efforts
  • Design, implement, and support scalable test automation frameworks that ensure consistent and maintainable testing practices across teams
  • Conduct various testing types such as functional, regression, smoke, integration, and user story validation throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during backlog refinement and sprint planning to determine quality expectations and testing requirements
  • Integrate automated testing into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid feedback and continuous integration
  • Develop and execute load, performance, and scalability tests to verify application stability and capacity under expected usage scenarios
  • Analyze test results, identify defects and potential risks, measure test coverage, and recommend improvements to enhance overall software quality and release readiness
