Pulmonary Care Nurse Responsibilities
- Plan, implement and assess treatment plans for patients with respiratory illnesses
- Conduct patient interviews/assessments
- Maintain and update patient records
- Monitor patients' progress towards goals
- Carry out diagnostic testing procedures
- Auxiliary and collaborative work with other healthcare professionals (i.e. physicians and respiratory therapists)
- Manage and administer medications
- Provide education on medications and various breathing treatments
- Administer different treatments including Oxygen Therapy, Manual CPT, Breathing Exercises, etc.
- Advise patients on various lifestyle changes that can alleviate symptoms
- Provide education on how to prevent respiratory illnesses
- Assessment and management of ventilator and tracheostomy patients
Pulmonary Care Nurse Qualifications
- Must have graduated from an accredited nursing program
- Must be a licensed nurse or Pulmonary Specialist
