About the role

Part-time position (24 hours per week) with a schedule of Monday through Friday, primarily 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. No weekends or holidays. Will cover one day a week in Warren.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and directs nursing care with a focus on family-centered care for individuals or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients served, regardless of age and developmental status.
  • Performs leadership and professional duties, including precepting new employees and mentoring clinical staff.
  • Performs patient-centered care, quality improvement, and safety duties.
  • Participates in the development and education of staff members for clinically related issues.
  • Performs evidence-based practice duties.
  • Supports provider staff and promotes collaboration for efficient operation, quality care, and legendary customer service for pediatric patients using a team approach.
  • Performs systems-based practice and informatics/technology duties.
  • May be temporarily assigned to other areas within Akron Children's Hospital based on patient needs requiring similar knowledge and skill.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required or must be obtained within 5 years from date of hire.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., PALS, ACLS) may be required based on the assigned department or unit and must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
  • A valid, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Ohio is required. This must be a Multistate License (MSL) within 90 days of hire for departments providing telenursing services or care to patients outside Ohio.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance, and motivation to other staff members with an emphasis on collaboration.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure to prioritize and complete tasks accurately and timely.
  • Experience working with various levels within an organization is required; healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
  • Experience with an electronic medical record system (e.g., EPIC) or similar software is preferred.

Schedule

Part-time (0.6 FTE), onsite position with a weekly schedule of 24 hours, Monday through Friday, primarily 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
