About the role
A celebrated bookstore and publishing house in New York City known for its focus on art, architecture, design, fashion, and culture is hiring a Publicity, Promotion and Events Manager to help develop and manage its cultural programming.
Responsibilities
- Planning, organizing, and executing a wide range of in-store cultural events including author talks, book launches, panel discussions, performances, and concerts
- Coinciding event promotion through the bookstore website, newsletters, social media, blog content, and marketing materials
- Maintaining an active presence on the sales floor, engaging with customers and demonstrating strong knowledge of inventory
- Developing relationships with publishers, publicists, cultural institutions, community organizations, and corporate partners
- Generating revenue through ticketed events, sponsored programming, venue rentals, advertising opportunities, and strategic partnerships
- Coinciding the creation and installation of window displays with publishers, designers, and guest curators
- Identifying new promotional and sponsorship opportunities
- Coinciding occasional off-site events and festival participation
- Assisting with publicity, press outreach, and promotional campaigns
Qualifications
- Experience in event planning, publicity, marketing, communications, or promotions; publishing or cultural programming experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Experience with social media platforms and digital marketing
- Interest in literature, publishing, visual arts, architecture, design, and culture
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus
