Publicity & Events Manager, Children's Books
What You'll Own
- Develop and execute events strategy for Sourcebooks Kids authors, from intimate bookstore signings to book festivals and large-scale multi-author events.
- Manage full event logistics: venue outreach, booking confirmation, travel coordination, data entry, and author/team communication.
- Direct PR and social strategy for events; craft pitches, secure media coverage, and design event graphics and assets.
- Report on event outcomes including attendance, on-site sales, and week-over-week Bookscan POS data.
- Lead strategy and execution of new initiatives and programming such as an author school visits program.
Requirements
- 3+ Experience in book publicity, marketing and author events, a closely related field.
- Proven track record building relationships with booksellers, media, or event venues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You know how to pitch and how to follow through.
- Comfort managing multiple events and timelines simultaneously without dropping details.
- Familiarity with tools and platforms used in book marketing (Bookscan, Monday, social media, design tools like Canva a plus).
Qualifications
- A collaborative spirit and the ability to work across teams, imprints, and personalities.
- Genuine enthusiasm for children's books and the authors!
Pay
$70,000 - $80,000 per year, determined based on a thorough evaluation of job-related factors, including geographic location, market conditions, relevant experience, training, and education.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with the option to work remotely or in New York, Naperville, Illinois, or any of the following states: Arizona, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Wisconsin.
