About the role
The Kentucky State Police is seeking a Public Safety Telecommunicator I to join their team. This role serves as a vital link between state Troopers and emergency management personnel.
Responsibilities
- Answer radio and telephone calls (including 911 in designated areas)
- Gather and relay pertinent information from each communication
- Dispatch calls to police and other emergency management personnel
- Provide pre-arrival instructions during medical emergencies
- Operate the Computer Aided Dispatching system (CAD)
- Familiarize oneself with Post region
- Utilize law enforcement systems nationwide to assist troopers and detectives with investigations
Requirements
- High school graduate
- Certification as LINK/NCIC Operator within thirty days of employment
- Certification as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher within sixty days of employment
- Certification as a Telecommunicator by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council (KLEC) within twelve months of employment
- No felony convictions or other crimes pursuant to KRS 15.540
