Responsibilities
- Assigns duties and areas of responsibility to personnel supervised, assesses performance effectiveness, and provides necessary training.
- Functions as Fire Marshal for assigned shift, responds to all emergency scenes pending arrival of other authority, assists with various drills, and inspects fire equipment.
- Conducts patrols by vehicle or on foot with the objective of protecting personnel and property.
- Ensures adherence to employee regulations, policies, and procedures and prevents criminal, destructive, or disruptive activity.
- Controls pedestrian and vehicle traffic, ensuring that vehicles are secure and safe. Issues traffic citations and conducts accident investigations when appropriate.
- Completes special projects and assignments as directed by a Public Safety Specialist or higher level of authority.
- Assures the Supervisor is kept advised of current unusual incidents, operational matters on assigned shift, and status of personnel, equipment, and supplies.
- Oversees the training and documentation of progress for new security personnel.
- Assumes the role of Public Safety Supervisor when directed. Reports to a Public Safety Lieutenant.
- This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements. Work is performed inside buildings where hazardous chemicals and gases are present, as well as outside in all types of weather.
- Interacts in situations with combative persons. May participate in fire situations. Participates in bomb threat search.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- 1-year prior security experience.
- One of the following certifications:
- CLEET-Armed Security Guard License
- Retired Police Commission
- IAHSS-Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor (CHSS)
- IAHSS-Certified Advanced Healthcare Security Officer (CAHSO)
- IAHSS-Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Armed CLEET License or Retired Police Commission
- Associate degree or above
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Variable shift, full-time
