About the role
K&A Power Group is seeking a Public Outreach Specialist to join their team in Rochester, New York. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects in the energy and utility sectors.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement outreach and communication strategies for stakeholders including customers and abutters.
- Work with project teams on writing and editing project-related outreach materials.
- Coordinate and host public meetings and open houses.
- Provide notifications to project neighbors and abutters about upcoming projects.
- Negotiate solutions to problems such as lost parking spots, loss of business, noise complaints, etc.
- Develop and maintain tracking mechanisms for outreach efforts, including customer and stakeholder lists, management plans, and logs.
- Respond to urgent public relations issues and bring in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs when necessary.
- Implement and maintain phone hotlines for critical projects and outreach inquiries.
- Collaborate with consultants, contractors, municipal leaders, customers, and others in the communities served by the utility.
- Perform other necessary duties as assigned by the Public Outreach Manager–Projects.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communications, environmental sciences, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- At least three (3) years of practical experience in journalism, communications, marketing, environmental permitting, construction communications, or related experience.
- Strong communications skills, particularly writing and public speaking.
- A firm grasp of Microsoft Office communications programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- A valid U.S. state driver’s license and in good standing.
- Willingness to travel within the operating company’s service area in your state. May require occasional travel to other states.

- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.

Pay
$120,000.00—$145,000.00/year
