About the role
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Family Planning Coordinator and provide direct client services within the Family Planning program. The position ensures services are delivered in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements and supports access to quality reproductive health services.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services, education, counseling, and care coordination to Family Planning clients.
- Coordinate referrals, follow-up care, and other services necessary to support client health and continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and ensure required program data and reports are completed.
- Educate clients on reproductive health, family planning options, preventive care, and healthy behaviors.
- Ensure provision of Family Planning contraceptives by monitoring and ordering supplies as indicated.
- Monitor and complete program activities to maintain compliance with applicable Family Planning federal and state requirements.
- Support quality improvement activities and other program initiatives as assigned.
- Provide clinical services and support in Women’s Health, Primary Care, Immunizations, STD, and General Clinics as needed.
- Serve as backup for the Communicable Disease Nurse.
Requirements
- Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience; OR
- Master’s degree in public health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; OR
- Graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Valid North Carolina nursing license.
Skills
- Thorough knowledge of and skill in the application of nursing theory, practice, principles, and techniques employed in the field of public health and related programs.
- For employees in expanded role positions, considerable knowledge of, and skill in obtaining a health history and performing physical examinations sufficient to determine any deviation from normal.
- Considerable knowledge of available resources and organizations and the ability to coordinate these as needed.
- General knowledge of current social and economic problems relating to public health, including health disparities.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee the work of others.
- Ability to deal tactfully with others and to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions.
- Ability to work in partnership with patients and with other service providers to elicit needed information and to maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to record accurately services rendered and to interpret and explain records, reports, and medical instructions.
- Considerable knowledge of and ability to apply the principles and practices of public health.
- Adequate computer skills to allow communication, patient record documentation, and accessing of information.

$67,126.00 - $87,264.00 Annually
