About the role
Under general direction, manage public information program for the El Paso Fire Department. Serve as media spokesperson, liaison, community manager and event organizer.
Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, coordinate and evaluate comprehensive and centralized public information and outreach programs for a bilingual community.
- Conduct market research, statistical or other analyses to determine public relations and outreach needs.
- Work with executive staff to develop and implement policies and strategies related to internal and external communications, public relations, marketing, community relations and public information.
- Review performance against objectives and standards to determine program effectiveness and need for changes.
- Coordinate, prepare or present programs designed to promote awareness of public safety activities, actions and accomplishments to civic groups, school districts, and the general public.
- Direct preparation of printed literature and brochures and audiovisual aids to support programs.
- Prepare and distribute weekly employee newsletter and annual report.
- Act as El Paso Fire Department spokesperson and coordinate media relations.
- Establish personal contacts with elected and appointed officials and their staffs to advise on complex, sensitive or controversial matters of public information and media relations.
- Generate and distribute multimedia content through digital and traditional channels to enhance public's awareness of the Fire Department's activities and teach the community about fire, and other hazards, safety awareness.
- Supervise assigned technical and administrative support personnel.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Journalism, Advertising, Marketing, Public Relations or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in journalism, public relations or marketing to include one (1) year in public safety.
- Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state.

Pay
Salary $65,472.58 - $81,840.72 Annually
