  • Successful completion of a psychological evaluation administered by UC Health is required.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Operations: Direct and oversee day-to-day operations of the Public Safety Department; supervise Public Safety Officers, Supervisors, Dispatchers, and Parking personnel; manage investigations and review incident reports; collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies when necessary; foster effective working relationships with organizational leadership and administrative teams.
  • Talent Management: Interview and recommend candidates for employment within the Public Safety Department; oversee orientation, onboarding, training, and professional development activities for assigned staff; assign work to support departmental and organizational goals and objectives; evaluate employee performance and provide coaching, guidance, and feedback; recommend disciplinary action and discharge when appropriate.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Assist in the development and management of departmental budgets; allocate resources and funds within approved budget limits to achieve operational objectives.
  • Compliance, Reporting & Administration: Oversee the maintenance of departmental records, reports, and operational logs; prepare recurring and special reports analyzing departmental activities and performance; maintain established department policies, procedures, objectives, and safety standards; ensure compliance with applicable organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Security Planning & Risk Management: Oversee hospital and facility security surveys and audits as needed; support the development of short-term and long-term departmental and organizational security strategies; assist in identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational effectiveness.
  • Professional Development: Maintain knowledge of current trends, technologies, and best practices in public safety, security, and law enforcement; participate in relevant seminars, conferences, professional organizations, and continuing education opportunities; perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
