Pt Reg/Med Recs Specialist PRN

About the Role

The Patient Registration Representative/Medical Records Specialist assists patients through the registration process, introduces them to the facility in a manner designed to reduce anxiety, and serves as a liaison between patients, their families, hospital management, and staff to ensure patient satisfaction, experience, and quality of services. The Specialist also assists with processing health information, including assembly, analysis, release of information, and medical records processing.

Responsibilities

• Guide patients through the registration process while ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, families, hospital management, and staff to maintain and improve patient satisfaction and service quality.
• Assist with processing health information, including assembly, analysis, and release of medical records.
• Handle clerical tasks with accuracy and speed, including cash collection, posting, and balancing.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and patient care.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare and/or customer service-related industry.
• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.

Qualifications

• Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications.
• Effective communication skills and ability to handle difficult customers or situations.
• Experience in patient interviewing.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and other shifts as scheduled based on departmental needs.
• General knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance.
• Ability to be cross-trained on all processes and train staff on these processes.
• Ability to collect, post, and balance cash.
• Typing skills of forty (40) words per minute.

Schedule

Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
