Pt Reg/Med Recs Specialist PRN

About the role

The Patient Registration Representative/Medical Records Specialist assists patients through the registration process, introduces them to the facility, and acts as a liaison between patients, families, hospital management, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients during the registration process
• Introduce patients to the facility to reduce anxiety
• Work with other departments to ensure patient satisfaction and quality of services
• Process health information including assembly of analysis, release of information, and processing of medical records

Requirements

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a health care and/or customer service related industry
• Basic working knowledge of commonly used computer applications preferred
• Effective communication skills and ability to handle difficult customers or situations preferred
• Experience in patient interviewing preferred
• Flexibility for weekend, holiday, and other shift work as scheduled based on departmental need preferred
• General knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance preferred
• Ability to be cross-trained on all processes and train staff on these processes preferred
• Ability to collect post and balance cash preferred
• Extensive clerical work with accuracy and speed preferred
• Typing skills of forty (40) words per minute preferred
