Psychiatric Technician - Malone Home, $4,000 Sign On Bonus

About the Role

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000.

Within a 24-hour framework, this role is responsible for the delivery of client care that promotes safety and well-being of all clients in the assigned department. Duties include providing a healthy, safe structured environment; engaging clients and families in a therapeutic alliance; delivering therapeutic interventions as directed; and functioning as an active member of the Malone staff. You will assist with escorting clients within Bethel and outside of Bethel when needed, and participate in client social, educational, and therapeutic activities. The position requires the ability to take direction and a commitment to learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide client care that promotes safety and well-being in a 24-hour residential setting.
• Create and maintain a healthy, safe, and structured environment for clients.
• Engage clients and families in a therapeutic alliance.
• Deliver therapeutic interventions as directed by the treatment plan.
• Act as an active member of the Malone staff team.
• Escort clients within Bethel and outside of Bethel when needed.
• Participate in client social, educational, and therapeutic activities.
• Write progress reports that accurately reflect client progress.
• Read medication administration records.
• Manage basic financial tasks, such as adding and subtracting money.
• Respond appropriately to aggressive and violent client behaviors.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• AA Degree in a Human Services field preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Substance Abuse Certification preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required within the first 90 days of hire.
• Valid Alaska Driver’s License required within 90 days of hire.
• Basic computer knowledge, accuracy, and dependability.
• Ability to work in residential treatment environments.
• Ability to solve practical problems and handle rapidly changing situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to understand and apply instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Pay

Minimum hourly pay: $23.15.

Schedule

• Full-time position (80 hours per week).
• 40 hours per week.
