About the role
The Oregon Department of Human Services seeks a Psychiatric Crisis Counselor (Behavioral Health Specialist 2) to join the Stabilization and Crisis Unit Crisis Outreach Assessment Team (COAT) in the Salem/Keizer/Turner area. The position operates Monday - Friday, noon to 8 pm.
Responsibilities
- Mental health/psychiatric intervention during crisis
- Assessing individuals for stabilization
- Building rapport with individuals and interdisciplinary support teams
- Providing crisis support and consultation services
- Conducting mental health assessments
- Developing and implementing behavioral health interventions
- Providing group and individual therapy sessions
- Collaborating with community resources to support individuals
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- A Master’s degree in psychology, social work, recreational, art, or music therapy, or behavioral health science, with two years of experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in nursing or occupational therapy, licensed by the State of Oregon, with three years of experience
Essential Attributes
- Strong attention to detail
- Crisis intervention experience
- Experience with individuals who experience intellectual/developmental disabilities, often with co-occurring mental health diagnoses
- Experience using computers and tablets for documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
