About the role

The Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Oregon, is seeking a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) to join the Behavioral Health Services team. This position involves identifying and assessing mentally ill and developmentally disabled inmates, conducting mental status examinations, and providing crisis intervention services.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and assess mentally ill and developmentally disabled inmates
  • Conduct mental status examinations
  • Conduct suicide assessments
  • Develop treatment interventions, behavior plans, and risk management plans
  • Provide crisis services
  • Coordinate regular contact with identified inmates
  • Perform initial identification and assessments
  • Engage in crisis intervention
  • Implement suicide prevention strategies
  • Manage cases and provide treatment services
  • Manage client records
  • Plan for inmate release
  • Facilitate consultations and training sessions
  • Facilitate group sessions

Requirements

This position requires a graduate degree in psychology, social work, recreational therapy, art therapy, music therapy, or behavioral health science; or possession of a current QMHP certification; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required competencies.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing and state licensure
  • A bachelor’s degree in social work
  • A graduate degree in a behavioral science field
  • A graduate degree in recreation, art, or music therapy
  • A bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy and state licensure
  • Education and experience demonstrating competencies in assessment, diagnosis, case conceptualization, treatment planning, crisis intervention, suicide assessment, behavior management, case management, relationship building, and working with clients.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $7,541 - $9,986 per month, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with shifts that may include early shifts, late shifts, and weekends. The position is located at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Salem, Oregon.
