About the role
The Psych Peer Specialist is an active member of the CPEP Team and provides peer support services to patients with serious mental illnesses. Under the supervision of the Mobile Crisis Social Workers, the Psych Peer Specialist will function as a role model to peers; exhibit competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as a consumer advocate, providing consumer information and peer support for CPEP/Mobile Crisis patients; promote community socialization, recovery, self-advocacy, self-help, and development of natural support. In this role, the Psych Peer Specialist will assist in the acceptance and triage of newly referred patients, accompany Mobile Crisis staff on field visits, and provide prompt assistance in responding to patient emergencies.Responsibilities

Requirements
- Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred)
- Previous experience working with multi-cultural and/or underserved communities (preferred)
- High school diploma or GED
- Certificate from state-approved peer specialist training program from OMH
- Active BLS from AHA
