Job Summary
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Utah Health Sciences is seeking a full-time, inpatient Advanced Practice Clinician (APC).
Responsibilities
- Carefully coordinates inpatient care, consultations, referrals, and patient follow-ups.
- Works closely with the inpatient healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory tests and diagnostic studies to identify and address patient health issues.
- Performs selected invasive procedures for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes within the scope of validated competence.
- Initiates and recommends appropriate medical treatments and procedures in accordance with established protocols and policies.
- Counsels patients, families, and significant others on health and illness, promoting health maintenance.
- Evaluates, plans, implements, and reassesses patient care, including emergency measures.
- Complies with medical records policies for accurate and complete documentation of patient care.
- Maintains required records and legal documents.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Nearly Continuously: Hospital environment, infectious disease, oils, hazards (proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals).
Often: Hearing, listening, talking, repetitive hand motion (typing), walking, standing, sitting.
Seldom: Bending, reaching overhead.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Current licensure to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in the State of Utah.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider card through American Heart Association, or obtain within one month of hire, as determined by credentialing.
- Preferred: Utah State prescriptive privileges. National certification as a Nurse Midwife.
Preferences
- 2+ years of experience in a clinical environment.
- Academic experience, supervision abilities, and Spanish speaking capabilities are welcomed.
- Additional services may be supported based on specific provider expertise.
- The ideal candidate will have exceptional leadership, communication, and administrative skills, along with the ability to work independently.
- Exceptional time management, prioritization, efficiency, and thoroughness are essential.
- The position involves significant student and resident education.
